A walk through history and culture in Chania, Crete

Britain’s leading guided walks operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, is offering a week’s holiday based in Chania, Crete with a history dating back to the Venetians. Its old harbour ‘captures’ the Mediterranean lifestyle with its vibrant tavernas.

Combining the area’s wonderful history with spectacular walks is the crux of this particular tour. Roman and Minoan ruins are much in evidence and the main museum is well worth a visit – as is the small, but excellent, naval museum.

As well as walks through beautiful hill villages, gorges and archaeological remains, there are opportunities for coastal walking too, with tracks following rugged cliff routes and lush beach paths.

The famous Samaria Gorge, when it is open, makes an interesting optional trip.

The Hotel Falassarna in Chania is a short walk from the town’s centre and is close to beaches, winding back streets and cafés.

Price from £699 per person includes, return flights from Gatwick, half board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays now operates to over 250 destinations in 70 countries.
