Cosy cottages for autumn breaks

Minimalist chic is all very well, but it is good to come home to a cosy cottage after a day on the fells. And if you can dry your socks– as well as the dog – in front of a roaring fire, it is even better!

In a similar vein, the open-plan living area at Osprey Cottage boasts a large fire and oak beams while two cosy bedrooms tucked into the eaves sleep four.

There are breathtaking views over Bassenthwaite Lake and Catbells, while the wood behind the cottage is full of deer and red squirrels. A three night break in November or December* costs £210, plus £15 for the family dog.
