Lakes Aquarium offers a real hoot this Halloween

Lake District visitor attraction, Lakes Aquarium, is providing families with a real hoot this Halloween, throwing owls, bats, poisonous and venomous creatures and cryptic runes into the cauldron to create a spellbinding event.

A ‘Wizards on Windermere’ week-long programme of activities will run from Monday October 26 to Sunday November 1, to coincide with the half term holidays. Every day will feature an exciting face-to-face, creature-based experience, an intriguing Cryptic Runes quiz trail and themed face-painting.

There will also be an interesting and informative daily talk about the poisonous and venomous creatures living at Lakes Aquarium, near Newby Bridge, including snakes, frogs and toads from around the world.

This will be backed by a fun challenge to see who is most clued up when it comes to knowing if a creature oozes poison or protects itself with venom.

On October 26, 27, 28 and 29, stunning owls from Predator Falconry will make visitors blink as they look these wise creatures in the eye.

On October 30, 31 and November 1, the Furness Bat Group will turn views about bats on their head. Visitors can see live bats and overcome fears and pre-conceptions about these supposedly spooky creatures. A bat-themed craft activity will also run on Lakes Aquarium’s bat days.

Half term visitors can also enjoy the magical otter enrichment experience communicated through otter feeding and a talk at 10.30 and 15.00 and a talk alone at 12.30. This runs every day, 364 days a year.

All of the additional activity is included within Lakes Aquarium’s standard admission charges of £8.75 per adult, £5.75 per child and £24.95 for a family of four.

Families can save up to 25 per cent by buying tickets in advance at lakesaquarium.co.uk.
