Blists Hill Victorian Town to host special Halloween event

8th October 2009 Print

Anyone with a penchant for creepy crawlies, ghosts and ghouls and a spooky atmosphere should head for Blists Hill Victorian Town, near Ironbridge, Shropshire on the evening of Saturday, 31 October where they’ll be sure to experience an exciting night out.

As dusk falls and the street lamps cast eerie shadows at every corner, weird apparitions will replace the friendly Victorians who are usually seen in the town’s shops, cottages and work places, and visitors are advised to listen out for things that go bump in the night!

Spooky antics are expected to replace the normal everyday activities that take place at the open-air museum. And, with the prospect of being nailed into a coffin by the village carpenter and plenty of scary supplies for sale at the ‘Spooks Market’, visitors are invited to come dressed in their most frightening costumes in order to ward off mischievous spirits.

This year, due to the popularity of the event, admission is by pre-purchased ticket only. With limited availability families planning to go along to this fun evening should book well ahead to be sure of a place.

Ghostly Gaslight at Blists Hill Victorian Town will begin at 6pm. Tickets priced at £8 per adult and £5 per child, under 16 years and in full time education, must be purchased in advance from the reception desk at Blists Hill or from the Ironbridge Tourist Information Centre. Tickets will not be available on the gate and all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs are allowed. Information can also be found on ironbridge.org.uk.
