Site manager cements a successful career One of Taylor Wimpey East Scotland’s most experienced site managers, Bill Torry, has picked up a second NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ Award for his outstanding work at the company’s St David’s Gardens development in Eskbank near Dalkeith – taking his career total of ‘Pride in the Job’ Awards to an amazing seven.

Recognised as the ‘Oscars of the House-building industry’ - Pride in the Job has been rewarding site managers with excellent standards on site for 29 years, and Bill has been hand-picked from thousands of competitors across the UK for an award again this year.

With a string of top ten rankings in 1990, 1992, 1993; the overall number one spot in 1995 plus quality awards in 1998 and 2008, as well as this most recent NHBC accolade, Bill is one of the company’s most accomplished site managers. He joined the company 37 years ago as a joiner, and has been a site manager for the last 23 years.

However, he still remains committed to achieving the very best on every development as he explains: “I’m highly delighted to win another NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ Award that recognises the superb team effort and levels of excellence that we’ve achieved at St David’s Gardens. It’s especially rewarding to have won this award for the second year in a row – it demonstrates the continued drive and commitment to quality of every member of the site team.

“I’m passionate about striving to deliver the very best I can on every site, each and every day - it’s a philosophy that’s driven me throughout my 37-year career with the company. The team effort, their experience and commitment to consistently produce a high quality range of homes has played a vital role in achieving this award again this year.”

Congratulating Bill on this national house-building award, Ewan Robertson, Production Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland comments: “This most recent ‘Pride in the Job’ Award recognises the commitment and exceptional standards achieved by Bill and his team at St David’s Gardens. With over 20 bespoke house-styles this development has been challenging, and Bill has led his team, once again, to deliver exceptional levels of workmanship to create an outstanding range of homes.”

St David’s Gardens offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, as well as a choice of two and three bedroom apartments. The showhomes are open Thursday to Monday from 10.00am – 5.30pm. For more information visit georgewimpey.co.uk.
