Starter homes a plenty at Persimmon

10th April 2007 Print
New Starter Homes Taking your first step onto the property ladder can be the scariest but most exciting moment of your life. The initial worry of bills and mortgage payments all fade into insignificance when you spend that first night in your new home, which is even better if you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on a brand new house that has never been lived in!

“There are numerous benefits to choosing new build for your first home,” says Ingrid Gahagan, sales director for Persimmon Homes West Scotland: ”These include knowing that your home has been built to stringent safety standards and a high specification. The most important reason for first time buyers is that we often offer a range of incentives which make getting a foot on the ladder even easier, including move in for £99, which we are currently offering on a number of our developments across the region.”

“Many of the areas where we have developments have a lack of properties for First Time Buyers,” continues Ingrid. “So in those areas where there is a real need, we have designed our schemes accordingly to ensure that starter homes feature predominantly in the mix.”

For example, the company’s Bramble Grove development in Airdrie has a host of new homes which are designed and priced with the first time buyer in mind. First time buyers can pick up a two bedroom home at Bramble Grove for a very reasonable £126,995. Bramble Grove also heralds the introduction of a new development layout for Persimmon in the west of Scotland which sees parking to the rear of homes rather than at the front, which gives the overall development huge kerb appeal and delightful car free street scenes.

Building on the success of the company’s Arran Brae development in Saltcoats, Persimmon has just launched a new development for sale in the coastal town. Brodick View is ideally situated on Burns Avenue and boasts a wide selection of styles priced from £120,995 including 2 bedroom apartments and 2 and 3 bedroom mews, which make ideal starter homes.

“We only launched Brodick View a few weeks ago, but already interest is high,” continues Ingrid. “Arran Brae was a hugely successful development for us and we are hoping to replicate that with this new development, which should be appealing to first time buyers with the smaller properties on offer.”

Also in Ayrshire, Ingrid is tipping Ardrossan to be one of the property hotspots of the next 12 months, which will make for a good investment for any first time buyers to purchase in the area now. Persimmon Homes currently has a number of 2 and 3 bedroom villas available at its Harbour View development in the town, which are ideal for first time buyers.

She says: “Ardrossan has received a big boost in recent weeks in terms of regeneration. The conversion of two old bank buildings in the town into offices and retail outlets and the opening of a new ASDA there this year are just two of the many initiatives that will attract more people to the region. Anyone who buys a property in North Ayrshire now is certainly onto a winner because we’re likely to see the average house price here rise as more money is invested into the area.”

Another Persimmon development that homes that are being snapped up by first time buyers is Brackenhill View in Law, which is proving a big attraction for first time buyers as the prices are so competitive. The site provides young buyers on the outskirts of Glasgow with an ideal opportunity to live in close proximity to the excitement and exhilaration of one of country’s most popular cities.
