Show-stopping show-homes

29th September 2008 Print
Stewart Milne Homes has opened three completely unique showhomes, which take buying a house to a new level. As part of their new Portlethen development, Leathan Fields, the three showhomes sit side by side, each with a different theme: the first displaying professional artworks; the second, containing some of the very latest hi-tech equipment and the third showcasing devices and equipment for safer living.

This new concept allows viewers not only to ‘try before they buy’, but also illustrates how easy it is to make a house into the home of your dreams.

Stewart Milne sales director, Mike Cowie said: “Buying a house is one thing but making it a home is another and our aim is to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible. Working with HiTechHome, Iain Carby and Aberdeenshire Community Safety on these show homes has been incredibly exciting. We have been able to produce a truly unique product that will not only inspire homebuyers, but also demonstrate how Stewart Milne Homes can offer a modern take on buying a home.”

Fenwick – Art in the Home
At the top end of the market, the Fenwick, is the ultimate showhome. As a unique first, well-known local artist, Iain Carby, will display his work in this luxurious home, demonstrating how art is an essential part of interior design. Specialising in colourful oil paintings, Carby has been commissioned to create a series of locally inspired works which hang throughout the extensive four bedroom detached villa. Using local scenes, Carby brings the surrounding Aberdeenshire landscape indoors, with his eye-catching paintings which transform this lavish house into an inspirational gallery.

Iain Carby commented "It has been a great privilege to create this collection for Stewart Milne Homes, which I hope captures the distinctive nature of the surrounding landscape and will inspire people to display art in their own homes. Throughout, I have attempted to inject colour, personality and life into the images, which I hope will compliment the showhome and reflect the area of Portlethen."

Kelso – The Hi-Tech Playground
Ideal for young couples, the three bedroom Kelso showhome offers the latest in contemporary furnishings and is fitted with the most sought after state-of-the-art technology. Multi-room digital sound and vision, home cinema, multi-room music, digital photo frames and internet access throughout the home are just some of the features on display that make this house a tech-lovers playground. All the equipment can be incorporated into a package tailored to individual house buyers.

George Dundee from HiTecHomes said: “Digital Home Entertainment Solutions can, with creative selection of the key technologies, be accessible and affordable. HiTecHomes and Stewart Milne have brought together industry giants Microsoft and Dell to produce a choice of packages that offer an exciting range of equipment to suit individual needs and to help create the perfect HiTecHome for you”.

Whitekirk – Safer living

For young families, the four bedroom Whitekirk presents the ultimate ‘safer’ home, as part of a new safer homes project. In conjunction with Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership, this display house is fitted with a wide range of added safety and security features, all of which can be purchased and fitted as part of the Stewart Milne Homes package.

Fred Welsh, Chair of Aberdeenshire Home Safety Group, commented: "It is important that we help people to minimise risk and try, as far as possible, to make the home a safe and accident free environment. By making a few very simple and very cheap adaptations, such as fitting locks to cupboards, child resistant safety catches to upstairs windows and by generally making people more aware of potential dangers we can go a very long way towards dramatically reducing the number of accidents that occur in the home every year in Scotland.

“It is our goal to create a community in which all residents feel safe and secure in their own homes, and we are delighted to be working with Stewart Milne Homes on a project, which takes an important step towards achieving this. This is an excellent example of a local business working in close partnership with the council, police, fire service, and the community, to help make Aberdeenshire an even safer place to live in."

The first phase at Leathan Fields comprises three individual developments: Leathan Mews; Leathan Grange; and Leathan Grove. Situated just seven miles south of Aberdeen, in Portlethen, they represent a major long term development for Stewart Milne Homes, with over 200 houses in the first phase alone. Extremely popular from the day it launched, with nearly 100 units sold already, the development offers homes in a variety of styles, ranging from 3 bed semi-detached and detached villas to four bed villas with garages and prices from £205,495 - £385,495.
