The introduction of a new 125PS VCDi diesel engine to the Chevrolet Cruze range enables business car decision makers to lessen their impact on the environment while taking advantage of additional cost savings.

The benefits to fleet operators are clear, as well as offering excellent fuel economy, with a combined mpg figure of 51.4, increasing to 61.4mpg on the extra-urban cycle, and an urban economy figure of 40.4mpg, CO2 emissions are 145g/km, meaning an annual road tax bill at current rates of £125.

As an even stronger incentive for fleet managers, the Cruze diesel qualifies for the Capital Allowance regime which means that fleets are able to write down 20% of the car’s cost and offset 100% of the lease payments against corporation tax.

Fleet drivers will also be able to keep their costs down thanks to the lower CO2 emissions of the new 125PS diesel engines – company car drivers paying the basic rate of tax (20%) will face a benefit-in-kind tax bill of as little as £542.60 a year.

The 125PS diesel-engined Cruze comes in two trim levels, both of which offer extremely impressive specifications. The entry-level S model, comes with air conditioning, electronic stability control, a CD-radio with auxiliary input socket, front electric windows, remote central locking, a Thatcham approved alarm and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors as standard.

The Cruze LS meanwhile adds electric rear windows, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille surround, rear park assist, steering wheel audio controls and a leather-covered steering wheel and gear knob to the specification list and yet at £14,345, is still significantly cheaper than many manufacturers’ entry level compact family cars.

The Cruze S with the 125PS VCDi diesel engine is available on Chevrolet’s leasing programme at just £204.99 per month (excluding VAT), based on 36 months/30,000 miles.

Chevrolet Managing Director Mark Terry commented: “We believe that the introduction of Cruze adds a new dimension to our offering in the fleet market. The standard equipment levels are outstanding and with the 125ps diesel engine now available, the line up makes financial and environmental sense both to fleet managers and drivers alike.”
