A head start to a bigger home at The Cedars in Corby Homeowners in Northamptonshire looking to take their next steps up the property ladder but are concerned about affordability could find a helping hand at David Wilson South Midlands’ The Cedars development in Corby thanks to the housebuilder’s Head Start scheme.

Situated on Thrush Close, The Cedars is part of the exciting new community of Oakley Vale and comprises a stunning selection of two-, three-, and four- bedroom homes from the extensive David Wilson portfolio.

Providing housing solutions for a range of buyers, The Cedars is particularly suited to families and those looking to climb the property ladder and David Wilson’s Head Start deal could help facilitate a move that may have temporarily been put on hold.

Jackie Day, Sales Director for David Wilson says “During the current credit climate many home owners may have been putting off taking their next steps up the property ladder for fear of not being able to afford increased monthly mortgage payments. But with Head Start, buyers can purchase a property for initially just 85 per cent of the asking price, meaning you can upgrade to a brand new home without necessarily increasing your monthly repayments.”

David Wilson is currently offering Head Start on plot 102 which is a three- bedroom home in the style of a Scotford that is ideal for smaller families and those taking their second step up the property ladder.

Jackie adds “Priced at just £129,995, the Scotford offers excellent value for money but if purchasers take advantage of Head Start they can find themselves moving in for just £110,495.

“This is an unbelievable price and affords purchasers the opportunity to move to a bigger property without necessarily increasing monthly outgoings or overstretching purse strings.

“Shared equity deals like Head Start are proving extremely popular with first time buyers but we are finding increasing numbers of property ladder climbers are taking advantage of this deal in order facilitate a move to a bigger home.

“So if you’re looking to move home, why not come and speak to one of our experienced sales negotiators to see if Head Start scheme could help make the dream of upgrading a reality.”

Head Start is not a shared ownership scheme; homebuyers own 100 per cent of the property from day one. There is no rent or interest to pay on the deferred amount, it is simply paid back as 15 per cent of the property’s open market value at any time up to the point of resale or within ten years, whichever is sooner.

The Cedars has proven extremely popular with the region’s homehunters thanks to the quality new homes on offer and its excellent location. Just nine properties remain unsold and include a selection of two- bedroom apartments and three- and four- bedroom houses.

The development benefits from the wide range of amenities Corby has to offer including high street stores, pubs and restaurants and with the regeneration taking place, many more facilities are on the way.

The town is also extremely well placed for commuting with the A14 connecting the town to both the M1 and M6 motorways whilst there are other A roads which link Corby to Northampton, Leicester, Peterborough and Cambridge. A brand new train station has recently been opened and with travel times of just over one hour to London, the bright lights of the capital city are within easy reaching distance.

Prices at the development start from £82,995 for a two- bedroom apartment.
