Alfred Knight Close officially unveiled in Duston

Alfred Knight Close is just one of a number of streets within the Arena Gate development that have been named after well-known local legends and around 100 guests witnessed Alfred’s children Steven, Barbara and Mike along with local Member of Parliament, Brian Binley, officially unveil the street signs.
Alfred was not only a much loved and respected member of the local community but also within the world of weightlifting and amongst his many accomplishments, he came 4th in the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
Barbara Jackson, daughter of Alfred Knight, comments “As a family, we’re extremely proud of what our father achieved, not just within his chosen sport, but within the local community too, and I think having a street named after him is a fitting tribute to what he accomplished during his lifetime.”
Brian Binley, Member of Parliament for Northampton South, comments “I am delighted to be here today to join the Knight family in officially unveiling this street sign.
“A lot of people remember Alf and remember what a great man he was and how dedicated he was to his chosen sport, purely for the love of it. It’s superb to have streets named after well known locals, this is what communities should be about and we can all learn lessons from people like Alf.”
