Councillor’s fact finding mission unearths affordable new homes A fact finding mission by a Parliamentary Candidate for Gainsborough saw Cllr Pat O’Connor pay a visit to award-winning Miller Homes’ Brooklands development on Foxby Lane in the north of the town.

Cllr O’Connor was keen to learn about more affordable housing being made available to the people of Gainsborough. Cllr O’Connor said: “The council is actively encouraging inward investment into the town. They are investing in our amenities with a £2m refurbishment of the market place. There is also the £35m development of our brand new Trent Valley Academy, the first newly constructed state-of-the-art secondary school built in Lincolnshire for the last 40 years.

“All of these measures are encouraging more people into the area which results in a need for more homes. I fully support Miller Homes, the quality of the properties along with the affordable prices are a great opportunity for local people to get onto, or move up the property ladder.”

Cllr O’Connor continued: “Homebuy Direct is a much needed initiative and I’m extremely pleased Miller Homes has made it available to the people of our town.”

Homebuy Direct is a scheme that makes more new homes affordable to first time buyers, key workers and current cash-strapped households. The Government backed initiative enables, those housebuyers that qualify, pay as little as 70 percent of their new home’s value and borrow the rest from the Government and Miller Homes. The 30 percent equity loan will only become repayable after 25 years or when the customer sells their home, whichever comes first.

An example of a home, available under Homebuy Direct, at Brooklands is the four bedroom Beckett, with a usual price of £142,000, under the initiative the housebuyer would only be required to find the funds for up to £99,400.

Ross Clarkson, senior sales adviser for Miller Homes Yorkshire said: “It is great to have support from Cllr O’Connor, this is a fantastic initiative that is now becoming more popular as househunters understand and take advantage of its benefits.

“The investment into Gainsborough and the development of the local school, shopping facilities and business park is encouraging progression for the town and new quality built and affordable homes are certainly what are needed to help with the expansion.”

Brooklands is situated on Foxby Lane on the outskirts of Gainsborough town centre and enjoys panoramic views over the lush green fields of Lincolnshire.

If you want to discover the delights of Homebuy Direct, visit the sales centre at Brooklands, open Thursday to Monday from 10.30am to 5.30pm to find out more. Alternatively, log on to millerhomes.co.uk/homebuy.
