Belgravia prepares to celebrate the festive season in style

13th October 2009 Print

Belgravia will be transformed into a winter wonderland on Sunday 6th December, as the area’s three most prestigious retail neighbourhoods come together to celebrate the festive season.

Pimlico Road, Elizabeth Street and Motcomb Street will treat shoppers to a luxurious Christmas experience, as Belgravia opens its doors against a backdrop of festive entertainment including a visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer.

Belgravia ‘Christmas Sunday’ will see all of Belgravia’s fantastic shops open between 11am and 4pm, bursting with a range of special offers and gift ideas from the finest retailers in London. Each of the three main streets will be closed to traffic, making way for stalls selling food, handmade children’s toys, other crafts and heartwarming drinks to make sure guests’ mistle-toes don’t get cold! Stalls will be adorned with fairy lights and bunting with white picket fences at the end of each street.

For the little ones and young at heart, Father Christmas will pay a visit to each street, pulled on his sleigh by his trusty reindeer. Throughout the day on Elizabeth Street, local school choirs will be entertaining shoppers with Christmas carols while brass bands will also be on hand to add to the festive cheer. Street entertainers including stilt walkers dressed as snowmen and ‘balloonatics’ will keep the children entertained leaving parents time to shop until they drop. For those weary on their feet, free rickshaws provide transport from street to street. The day will culminate with carols on Elizabeth Street, with song sheets distributed for all to join in.

All of Belgravia’s illustrious names will be there to welcome visitors, including boutiques such as Carolina Bucci, Annick Goutal, Christian Louboutin, Joanna Wood, Philip Treacy, Erickson Beamon and many more besides. To finish a perfect day of Christmas shopping, gourmet sustenance will be at hand in many fantastic restaurants, pubs and delis (Belgravia has nine Michelin stars in total) including Nahm, Zafferano, Thomas Cubitt, Daylesford Organic and Olivetto, or give into the delicacies from The Chocolate Society, William Curley and Rococo.

A festival of twinkling lights, festive cheer and only 10 minutes from Victoria (national rail & tube) Knightsbridge and Sloane Square (tube), Belgravia’s Christmas Sunday is a must-visit in London this festive season.
