Retirement-specialist McCarthy & Stone has launched a new offer to remove a range of moving and living costs for older home-buyers to make buying and selling stress-free.  The ‘Move in and live free for a year’ deal is available on all 12 currently selling developments across Scotland - subject to legal settlement by 19 February 2010.

This unique offer includes a free de-clutter service that removes surplus chattels to be sold or taken to charity shops – perfect for down-sizers looking to maximise their move.  Plus there’s a free packing, removal and unpacking service so buyers can arrive at their new McCarthy & Stone retirement apartment refreshed and ready to get on with everyday life.  Estate agent and solicitors fees, as well as Home Report costs are also paid.  And once moved-in, buyers will also enjoy the benefit from their council tax, TV licence, contents insurance, electricity, telephone-line, calls and service charge bills all paid for a year*.

Each McCarthy & Stone development offers a range of one and two bedroom apartments which are tailored to the needs of older people with on-site facilities such as a laundry-room, a central lounge for recreation and social events, a lift and a hotel-style guest suite for friends and family who wish to visit.  Plus, for added peace of mind there’s a 24-hour personal emergency service, as well as a TV security-system monitoring the main entrance.  A house manager is responsible for daily management of gardeners, window-cleaners and maintenance staff, as well as helping to organise social events with the residents.

Steve Wiseman, regional managing director, said: “We often hear from retired people living in an under-occupied family house who are desperate to move but can’t face the upheaval, or may be worried about moving in the current economic climate.  Our new ‘Move in and live free for a year’ offer aims to make moving home more appealing by removing the significant cost elements.”

Alternatively, McCarthy & Stone offers a part-exchange service for customers who want to move quickly. This guarantees the sale of their property, subject to it being in marketable condition.

“Part-exchange eliminates the frustration of selling, or having to show strangers around your old house, or being stuck in a chain and losing your sale.  And, we have a proven track-record of transactions moving quickly,” adds Mr Wiseman.
