McCarthy & Stone, the UK market leader in retirement living with developments across Scotland, tops the house building industry in overall customer satisfaction and recommendations according to an independent survey by the National House Building Council.

The nationwide NHBC Customer Satisfaction Survey is sent to all purchasers of new homes nine months after they move in and asks them to rate areas such as service, the quality of their home and the development overall.

The latest set of results for the year ending September 2008 sees McCarthy & Stone continuing to outperform the rest of the industry, with 89.4% of the company’s customers saying they would recommend McCarthy & Stone to a friend and 92.1% satisfied that their new home fully met or exceeded their expectations. Both scores were the highest of any major house builder in the UK and continue the company’s industry leading performance over the past five years.

Derek Field, McCarthy & Stone’s director responsible for customer care, comments: “The fact that we are, yet again, leading the industry in these two key areas is testament both to our commitment to customer care and the fact our teams on site always go the extra mile to make sure every customer has a positive experience.

“We understand that the decision to move from the family home, sometimes after many years, can be daunting, so it’s important that we offer a personal service that offers help and support every step of the way. The nature of our developments means we nurture on-going relationships with our customers that last many years after they move in.”

Genge and Marion Fry recently moved from The Borders to Moravia Court in Forres and Genge – an Anglo Saxon name from his father’s Dorset origins - says they settled into their private retirement home very quickly.

“We bought McCarthy & Stone’s two- bedroom show apartment including carpets, curtains and fireplace.  Sales consultants Helen Tagliaferri and Margaret McClenaghan along with house manager Judith Hampson are most helpful.

“Everyone is so welcoming.  Whatever your age, moving is a major step but I can honestly say this move has been very easy.  The amenities are first class with the residents’ lounge, the guest suite, laundry, the 24-hour Careline system and other security measures.  All of this gives us peace of mind and it must be particularly reassuring for anyone living on their own.

“We all look out for each other – it feels like we have an extended family.  Yet there is great variety in our backgrounds which makes living here really interesting.  This way of life suits us down to the ground and age-wise I think we’ve timed it really well.  We have no regrets at all.”

McCarthy & Stone is currently offering a range of one and two bedroom apartments in 12 locations across Scotland with a range of starting prices to suit a wide range of budgets.

All McCarthy & Stone retirement developments are designed to promote an active and independent lifestyle for the over 60s and include facilities such as a residents’ lounge, guest suite, a house manager and a lift. A security entrance system and 24-hour Careline provide peace of mind for both residents and their families and all properties are low maintenance and energy efficient.
