Motor Codes commits to crushing car repair complaints

12th November 2009 Print

As National Complaints Day arrives (13 November), Motor Codes is reinforcing its commitment to raising standards across the industry, offering motorists advice and assisting with their dispute resolution. Car servicing and repairs carried out by independent garages accounted for over 8,000 complaints received by Consumer Direct in the first half of 2009. The influence of the free consumer advice line (0800 692 0825) and minimum standards set by Motor Codes for its subscribing garages, helped the volume of complaints fall in comparison with 2008.

Chris Mason, Motor Codes director, said, “The information available on the motorindustrycodes.co.uk website, combined with guidance offered by our free consumer advice line means that motorists should always know where to turn with issues regarding the service and repair of their vehicles.

“Searching by town on the Motor Codes website, car owners should always find themselves within reach of a trusted Motor Codes garage. With over 5,900 subscribers nationwide, we’re confident that we can continue to raise the standard for the service and repair industry, driving down customer complaints.”

Motor Codes Ltd also sets minimum standards and offers its consumer  protection through its New Car Code and its Vehicle Warranty Products Code. Each Code provides free conciliation and low-cost, legally-binding arbitration, in addition to surveying customers using the Codes to ensure standards continue to rise across the sector. Consumer Direct recognises the industry knowledge and depth of consumer advice available at Motor Codes and tends to refer callers and web visitors to the Motor Codes website and free phone number.

More information about the Motor Industry Codes is available at motorindustrycodes.co.uk. At the website, motorists can also search for nearby Motor Codes garages, set up a free service and MOT reminder, and find details for the free consumer advice line – 0800 692 0825.
