New homes built by Gloucesterhire’s leading housebuilder will be covered by a five-year guarantee of fixtures and fittings from today (November 17).

The items which Barratt will cover at no extra cost to the buyer will include appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, kitchen units, wardrobes, the central heating system, fires, doors, windows, drainage, the hot and cold plumbing system and even the driveway.

The five-year guarantee of fixtures and fittings in place at the time of purchase is in addition to the existing ten-year warranty on the structure of new homes and remains valid even if the home is sold on to a new owner.

The exclusive offer, which is not available from any other housebuilder, marks the culmination of an intensive programme in which the company has focused on raising further the industry-leading quality of its homes.

Barratt in the region was given a four star rating in this year’s HBF Customer Satisfaction Survey, in which consumers are asked if they are satisfied with the quality of their new home and whether they would recommend their builder to a friend.

Site managers working for Barratt Bristol also won seven NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards in 2009. The honours are the most coveted in the industry and are awarded after the construction standard setting body NHBC (National House-Building Council) carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

“Because we have confidence in the outstanding quality of our build, we are confident that we can offer this additional reassurance to our customers,” said Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt.

“Our five-year warranty covers just about everything in the home for the first 1,824 days of occupancy. We will act as a one-stop shop for addressing any problems with components or workmanship.

“So our customers can be reassured that they won’t have to face any unexpected bills for which they haven’t budgeted. Moreover, the warranty stays with the home, which means that if the customer decides to move they have a powerful sales tool to attract prospective purchasers.”

The offer does not apply to social housing.

Barratt’s current developments in Gloucestershire include Equinox in Cheltenham, Coopers Edge in Brockworth and Grange Court at Quedgeley.
