Exeter Scouts salute Taylor Wimpey

Exeter Scouts are saluting Taylor Wimpey after the housebuilder got into the festive spirit and donated £350 towards the running of this year’s charitable Christmas postal delivery service, ‘Scout Post’.
Scout Post was set up in 1981 and has been delivering Exeter’s Christmas cards and letters to over 30,000 people each year. The Scouts rely on charitable donations to keep the service running and Taylor Wimpey, which is building new homes in Exeter, was happy to help.
Janine Davey, regional sales and marketing director, commented: “We first learned of the Scout Post from one of our employees, Jason Dugdale. Site manager at our Sylvan Heights development off Barley Lane, Jason is also District Commissioner of the Exeter Scout Association. As soon as he told us about their need for a sponsor, we were delighted to help out. Although we’ve only recently launched our Sylvan Heights development, we hope to have one of the Christmas post boxes there in the future.”
Exeter residents are encouraged to place their festive mail in one of 30 post boxes set up in participating shops around the city. The post boxes are emptied and then taken to the District Headquarters for sorting before 15 groups of Scouts, from Exeter and Budleigh Salterton, collect the mail from this temporary postal centre and deliver it across the city.
Jason Dugdale added: “I have been a member of the Scouts since 1971 so value being a part of Scout Post every year. With the recent chaos to the postal system, our service guarantees your festive mail will be delivered on time and, costing just 20 pence per stamp, at a cost-effective price.”
2009’s delivery service was launched on Saturday 14th November and will be running over the festive period until 4pm on Saturday 12th December. If you want your Christmas mail to be delivered by the Scouts, just post your letters and cards into one of the boxes around Exeter - visit exeterscoutpost.org.uk to find the nearest postal point to you. All proceeds go towards supporting The Childrens Hospice South West and local Scout activities.
Launched last month, Taylor Wimpey’s Sylvan Heights development will offer a stylish selection of two bedroom apartments and three, four and five bedroom houses, priced from just £199,995.
