When it comes to choosing a car, there are quite a few factors to take into consideration. Price, size, tax bracket, fuel consumption and existing mileage  are all usually pretty high on the agenda as you browse online or in the showroom. According to some research carried out by the UK’s leading used car hypermarket, however, there may be higher forces at work.

By matching buyers’ birth signs with the type of car bought, Carcraft has discovered your next choice of car could well be written in the stars. The company found there was a correlation between customers’ preference for model and colour and the time of year they were born. Suggesting that many of us may be guided by astrology as much as we are by astute buying habits.

For instance, Aries the ram tends to go for something flash, sporty and that stands out from the crowd. A red Mazda MX5 or convertible Saab in bright yellow are firm favourites. Sagittarians on the other hand prefer something that accommodates their free spirit and sense of adventure. So a 4x4 or muscular MPV hit the target for the archer. In contrast, eccentric Aquarians go for small and quirky, with a Ford Ka or Mini fitting the bill.
