Designer homes on a budget

During these recession busting times, purchasers are being more stringent than ever on their purse strings but that does not mean the interior of your new home needs to suffer.
David Wilson East Midlands is hoping to prove that you can still achieve a designer look at an affordable price with the launch of the recently re-vamped showhome at its Scholars Grange development in Scraptoft.
The housebuilder has enlisted interior design company H&A to create an impressive yet attainable family home within the Linford style property at plot 304 of the popular development off Covert Lane.
“The Linford is a sumptuous design and one of the most desirable properties within the David Wilson portfolio.” comments Philip Lacey, Sales Director at David Wilson.
“It’s a luxurious style and within the showhome we wanted to prove that purchasers can still achieve a designer look but for a fraction of the price. I think H&A have done a fantastic job of updating the scheme and proving you can still achieve an impressive home without overstretching budgets.”
Colin Dean is Account Manager at H&A Interiors, he comments “Our brief was simple- give life to the existing showhome, making it an attainable and comfortable living space that would appeal to families.
“The main action we took was to inject colour into what was a relatively neutral scheme with the predominant colour being red. We’ve featured coloured wallpaper, fabrics and accessories and by maintaining a consistent colour throughout, it gives the illusion of the home being much bigger.
“We’ve included lots of feature wallpapered walls, for example on the fire breast in the lounge. This helps to maintain an opulent and luxurious feel but by only dressing one wall, you are saving money.
“I hope visitors to the showhome will pick up on these small but subtle tips and use them to re-create something similar in their own homes.
“We wanted to design a more obtainable and realistic living space for visitors to the Linford as sometimes showhomes don’t always really relate to real life. But I believe we have managed to do exactly that and create a striking scheme that would be easy to live with.”
Visitors who want to visit the new showhome can do so during the opening hours of 11am-6pm, Thursday to Monday.
Located on Covert Lane in the sought after village of Scraptoft, Scholars Grange offers purchasers a superb selection of three-, four- and five- bedroom homes.
Prices at the development start from £189,995.
