Bloor helps family find their perfect home

It’s tricky enough buying a new property but, when you need to sell two existing properties first, it can become even more complicated. For one couple, the process took two years, but with the help of Bloor Homes, they are finally enjoying a new life together.
Richard Bradley met his wife Cathy in Northern Ireland and they planned to marry, sell their respective properties in Leeds and Belfast and buy a new home together in Gloucestershire where Richard was then working, following a job relocation.
Richard said: “Last year we found an ideal property at Chandos Fields - Bloor’s development in Brockworth – but unfortunately, it sold before we had been able to sell our houses and soon the entire development had been completed. Cathy was expecting our first child so we decided to rent a property in the short term. We did this not only because we had enough to worry about at the time, but also because it would give us time to get acquainted with the new area so we had a better idea of where we really wanted to put down some roots.
“We had our son Adam last autumn and waited until the beginning of this year to resume our search for a new home. We looked at several new developments but were always disappointed as they lacked the appeal and the space of the home we’d fallen in love with at Chandos Fields. Then one day, as we were driving home from a viewing with a different builder, we came across another Bloor Homes development at Rudgeway Fields in Walton Cardiff.
“We were delighted to see Sales Advisor Linda Partington in the Marketing Suite as she’d previously worked at Chandos Fields and knew exactly what we were looking for. By this time, we had sold both our properties and were able to move.”
The couple wanted a 4-bedroom home that was big enough to accommodate the new family. The sales team had the ideal property in mind but, because demand at the development was so high, the couple had to buy off plan and wait a few months for their home to be completed. “This wasn’t a problem,” said Richard. “This house was perfect for our needs – it was really spacious and the location was great so we were happy to wait.
“Neither of us knew Tewkesbury very well but we looked round and liked what we saw; it’s a lovely town with all the amenities we need close by. The development itself also ticked all our boxes. It’s extremely popular with young families, and even has its own playground and community centre, which meant that Cathy would be able to get to know new people in the immediate vicinity quite quickly. This was important as she did not know anyone in the area.”
Richard added that he has been impressed with the helpfulness and professionalism of everyone he has come into contact with at Bloor. “When we moved in, my father-in-law accidentally drilled through a water pipe while Cathy and I were out buying furniture. He came across one of the construction team working on site and although he was under no obligation whatsoever to help us, he offered to come round and fix the problem for us. This speaks volumes to us, not just about the quality of the staff and contractors Bloor employs, but of the friendliness of the local people in general. We’ve found everyone to be extremely warm and accommodating and we are thrilled to be part of this lovely new community.”
Linda commented: “We were really disappointed that we were unable to help Richard and Cathy progress with their purchase at Chandos Fields but it was a lovely surprise to see them again here at Rudgeway Fields. We are all pleased to hear that they are now settled in, making new friends and enjoying their new home with their son.”
Four 4-bedroom houses are currently available at Rudgeway Fields. Three styles are available: the Pennard is priced from £225,000; the Kilmersdon Special is £249,950, and the Shillingford, which features a double garage, is £310,000. In addition, two 2-bedroom semi-detached Consort style homes are available for £149,950 and one 3-bedroom Baron style, semi-detached is for sale at £179,950. Further properties can be purchased off-plan for completion next year.
And don’t worry if you need to sell your current property first as you may be able to take advantage of Bloor Homes’ Part-Exchange scheme. The scheme effectively eliminates the need to hire estate agents and deal with viewings, making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Using our Part Exchange scheme, we will make you an offer based on 100 per cent of the value of your home, which is calculated by taking the average valuation from three independent local estate agents. You will simply be asked to pay a one-off charge of £750 to cover administration and a survey if required.
