Barclaycard customers affected by floods in Cumbria
Barclaycard today, 25th November, announced that it is taking steps to assist customers affected by the storms and flooding in the Cockermouth and Workington regions of Cumbria.
Barclaycard appreciates that customers in the area may have problems receiving mail or using online services making it difficult to make payments on time. To assist those in the Cockermouth or Workington area, customers who advise Barclaycard that they are affected by the flooding will have any late payment fees refunded immediately.
In addition to this, Barclaycard is also supporting small businesses impacted by the flooding in Cockermouth. Those that process transactions through Barclaycard Payment Acceptance will not be charged their terminal rental and minimum billing charge for three months. This move is in addition to the financial support package for businesses announced by Barclays Local Business Banking yesterday.
Amer Sajed, Chief Executive of Barclaycard UK, Business and International said: "We understand that this is a difficult time for those personal and small business customers who have been impacted by the flooding in Cumbria and recognise that the usual channels of communication are not necessarily open as a result. We will take a sympathetic approach to any customer who has been affected, and ask them to contact us as soon as they can to discuss how we can help."
