Lake Vyrnwy Hotel has New Year celebrations covered

26th November 2009 Print

For a New Year break which ticks all the boxes – fabulous location, superb meals, log fires, luxury spa, Black Tie dinner on New Year’s Eve with entertainment, plus a great choice of outdoor activities – look no further than Lake Vyrnwy Hotel.

This four-star, country-house hotel, just over the Shropshire border in Powys, sits on the lakeshore where the forested mountain slopes meet the water.  Surrounded by a 24,000-acre estate that boasts 58 miles of footpaths, this is a great location for winter walks and birdwatching (it was one of the key locations for BBC2’s Springwatch in 2009).

Special, three-night New Year breaks include:

- 30 December – afternoon tea by the fire; drinks and canapés pre-dinner and five-course dinner. Post-prandial entertainment could be to challenge fellow guests at one the many board games available, or maybe try and win a bottle of Champagne by being the person who fits the last piece in the giant jigsaw.
- New Year’s Eve – day at leisure after breakfast…time to explore some of those footpaths, relax in the spa or just sit by the fire and soak up the views.  Lunch and afternoon tea followed by New Year’s Eve ball with dinner, dancing and grand firework display.
- New Year’s Day – breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner included, plus the chance to enjoy activities such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, a four-wheel-drive tour of the estate and cycling around the lake.  In the afternoon there’s also a demonstration of sheep dog trialling by an international competitor/judge.
- The break ends after breakfast on 2 January.

The price is from £495 per person, based on twin share, for accommodation in a country-view room, rising to £580 each for a Premier lake-view room.
