‘Credit Crunch’ Christmas party proves a hit in Plymouth

Despite recent reports that firms are cutting back on Christmas party budgets this year, Future Inns Plymouth has seen festive party bookings soar by 40% compared to a year ago.

The hotel’s Christmas party package - offering companies a wide choice of suites complete with festive food and live entertainment at great value - has proved so popular amongst firms in the area that that bookings in December are up to 1000, compared to just 600 in December 2008.

This flies in the face of a recent report from the Chartered Management Institute* that found only 42% of companies are funding parties this year compared with 72% in 2006. For example, publicly-owned UK bank Northern Rock will be party-free this year while the Royal Bank of Scotland has slashed its entertainment budget by 90% to £10 a head.
