With New Year’s Eve just around the corner panic sets in as we try to find the best party. However, if like others you find yourself in the local pub on New Year’s Eve with the same group of friends, why don’t you take the opportunity to get planning for next year and make sure you party with the best of them.

A recent survey carried out by Contiki Holidays in five European countries revealed that Spain will pull all the stops out this year with one in three people agreeing that they’re the wildest party animals. The Brits followed closely with one in ten people saying we’ll have the biggest party and 1 in 20 saying it would be the Germans.

So, with the top three party nations in place Contiki set about asking their expert Tour Managers and insider teams where they think these party animals will be for the biggest night of the year.

Spain – Barcelona
Even though the Spanish capital of Madrid will host a great New Year party it will be more of a traditional affair. The real Spanish party animals will be heading to Barcelona to see the New Year in with a bang. The day is likely to start somewhere like Bauma, an old-style café-bar that's got a great ‘lazy Sunday morning feel’. Its retro battered leather seats, ceiling fans and shady tables make it a great place to meet friends, catch up over tapas and a few beers and to get in the mood for the big night ahead.

Once the night sets in many head to ‘Bosc de les Fades’ otherwise translated as ‘Forest of the Fairies’, this is a very cool bar that actually feels like you’re sitting among woodlands at dusk. Waterfalls run over mirrors and you sit under a ceiling of trees and lanterns - perfect for a cosy drink before heading to the real party.

Anyone in the know in Barcelona this New Year’s Eve will be at the Verdes Records night at Espais Actuals. This is one of the main venues Sonar Festival uses for its cool warehouse atmosphere. It’s an 800 square metre art gallery where party goers dance surrounded by amazing sculptures and light combinations. The stunning venue coupled with a powerful sound system and the Verdes Records team on the decks it’s no wonder Spain will have the biggest party this year!

UK - London
There’s nowhere more festive or trendy for that matter than Spitalfields market in East London and with Shoreditch just up the road the market is a great place to meet friends and kick off the celebrations.

There are all sorts of parties planned for Shoreditch this New Year’s Eve. It’s likely party goers will move from bar to bar and boy do they have their pick, from Discoshed at Big Chill Bar to Soul II Soul's Jazzie B DJ’ing at East Village right through to a bikini party at Favela Chic!

For the main event London revelers will be heading to the Ministry of Sound party at the O2. It’s one of the biggest line ups in the capital and they have invited electro party king Calvin Harris, Canadian producer and DJ Deadmau5, Justice and the Plump DJs. It’s sure to rival any party in the world!

Germany - Berlin
The cool arty types of Berlin will start the day off at little café to meet friends and chat at their own pace. Somewhere like the ‘T Rooms’ on Christinenstrasse 27 is the ideal place. A café come art gallery it’s been described as feeling like being in your best mate’s front room. Owners Simon and Lisa have brought the originality from their hometowns of London and Amsterdam to create the unique T Rooms. With old sofas dotted around and a set of decks and access to vinyl to play it’s the perfect place to get the party started.

8mm is a great bar to move onto into the night and it’s always filled with local scenesters. Based in the Prenzlauer Berg area the purple-walled venue is very much ‘the’ place to be seen, it’s open until the early hours so it’s great for the bar before or the after party stop off.

One of the biggest and most talked about New Year’s Eve parties in Berlin this year is set to take place at Dice. Dice is a former abandoned electricity station that has had a face-lift and emerged as Berlin’s hottest club of the moment so it is definitely the place to be seen this party season. New Year’s Eve will see Dice host ‘Silvester Night’ By Audioheim. The line-up includes Germany’s best with Leo Cubanero, Enzo, Frank Horn, Jama, Manuel, & MIA live.

With Berlin’s cool venues, London’s big name DJ’s and Spain’s party people the biggest New Year Party title will be in close competition but it may have to be experienced to know who truly will have the biggest and best party this New Year’s Eve.

To experience some of these nights and amazing cities first-hand next year, join in the fun on a Contiki tour. Winter European tours over New Year 2010-2011 are available to book now at Contiki.co.uk.
