Families travel back in time on Jordan adventure

30th December 2009 Print

Among new holidays for 2010, adventure travel operator Kumuka Worldwide opens up the sights, sounds and culture of Jordan for families with children as young as five on a ten day ‘Gladiators, Castles & Bedouins’ small group tour.

Starting and ending in Amman, the holiday explores the Kingdom of Jordan and includes child-friendly activities such as watching chariot-racing and gladiatorial combat in the Roman ruins of Jerash, swimming in the Dead Sea and camping under the stars in the desert.

Escorted by a Local English-speaking Guide, the group – not more than 16 parents and children in total – can explore Kerak’s Crusader castle and the red rose city of Petra as well as trace Lawrence of Arabia’s steps into the desert and take a 4X4 ‘safari’ into the Wadi Rum – plus the ubiquitous camel ride!

With eight nights in hotels and one at a desert camp, the tour usually costs £975 for adults and £845 per child under 12 sharing their parents’ room – but seven departures between 25 March and 19 August are reduced by £146 to £829 per adult.

Breakfasts are included, plus a Bedouin dinner in the desert, with plenty of opportunities to try local food along the way. All travel within Jordan by air-conditioned mini-coach is included. International flights are not included but can be arranged on request.
