How to plan ahead for a spring getaway

19th November 2022 Print

If you’re looking for a guide on how to plan ahead for a spring getaway, you’ve come to the right place! All we want is to lie back and relax during the spring holidays, so here are some tips on how you should plan ahead if you will be going away in the spring.

What’s your budget?

First and foremost, you should decide on your budget for the holiday. This can range from a smaller one if you’re planning on going somewhere that may only take a car, bus, or train trip, to a bigger budget for a holiday abroad.

You should consider the prices of the following and adjust your budget accordingly:

- Travel and accommodation

- Food and drinks

- Entrance fees to places of interest

- A separate budget for any items/souvenirs you may want to buy

It’s also a good idea to have some emergency funds just in case!

Where to go?

Now, where could you go? Depending on the status of COVID-19 in the area, you may find you’re still unable to fly out to other countries – so it’s best if you find out any COVID-19 restrictions or regulations that may be in place for that specific country or territory.

Otherwise, we suggest you travel somewhere within your country! Did you know that spring staycations are becoming increasingly popular? In March 2021, 32% of travellers were set to stay in traditional coastal or seaside towns for their next spring staycation, whilst 31% reported countryside or village.

A staycation can be just as exciting as a holiday overseas, so it’s worth looking into whether a staycation may be the right choice for your next spring getaway.

Save the dates

If you’re already planning ahead, then you have the ability to book in advance! We recommend booking in advance for any holiday, but especially for holidays around spring, as other people tend to go on holiday during this time, too.

Ensure that you have saved up enough annual leave for your holiday, and that your little ones are on school holiday around this time as well.

Choose your accommodation

If you’ve got a destination and dates in mind, then it’s time to start looking for where you’ll be staying. A hotel is simple enough, but don’t forget that there are also holiday homes or apartments that you can rent!

Research your destination and its tourist attractions

Of course, you shouldn’t forget to actually research what you’ll be doing on your holiday. Discover all of the hottest tourist attractions and see whether they’re something you and your family or friends will enjoy.

With this information, you can create an itinerary! Ensure that you make the plan feasible, however, as you will want to be able to have the time and resources to visit these places during your trip.
