Friends become neighbours at Debut in Selby

Friends and neighbours Vicky Wood, Emma Readshaw and Becca Smith cook up a storm at Debut @ Selby.

Emma Readshaw doesn’t need to worry about getting to know her new neighbours at Debut in Selby as two of them were already her friends.

Pals Emma, Vicky Wood and Becca Smith are always popping in and out of each others’ brand new Redrow homes at the Debut @ Selby development in North Yorkshire.

Emma explained: “I saw details about the new-build Redrow homes in the newspaper and went to have a look at the show home and got the ball rolling.

“I bought a ‘D1’ style one-bedroom apartment and was so pleased with it that I suggested that friends who wanted a home of their own look around the Redrow show home and both of them have bought property here too.”

Emma, a 24-year-old nursery nurse, previously lived in rented accommodation in a neighbouring village.

“As a first-time buyer I was worried about managing the cost of owning my own home, but buying a Debut home means that I pay a single monthly service charge, which covers all of my gas, electricity and water bills – even the window cleaning,” she commented.

“Owning my own home means I’ve got my own space and because I don’t really know anyone in the area yet it’s good to know that I’ve got friends living close by.”

Vicky fell in love with Debut @ Selby when she first went to visit Emma in her new home and decided it was time she invested in her own home after years of renting.

“I had the money to buy and thought ‘why waste my money renting when I can own my own place’,” Vicky, a 28-year-old dental nurse, said.

She is now settled in at her one-bedroom ‘D2’ apartment.

Vicky said: “The fact that it’s newly built meant that I could put my own stamp on it. Affordability was also a key factor. You get fantastic quality and value with Redrow. I would recommend Redrow to any of my friends.”

Nursery nurse Becca, 20, feared she would be priced out of the housing market until Emma explained the advantages of Debut.

“When Emma bought her apartment I had just moved back with my parents after living independently,” Becca explained.

“I really wanted my own space and Debut was the ideal scheme to enable me to step onto the property ladder and buy my own home.”

She has also recommended Debut to other first time buyers.

Debut @ Selby offers a selection of one and two-bedroom homes, designed for those who are starting out or starting over.

Redrow’s ‘easi:buy’ scheme is available on selected properties, enabling purchasers to delay paying 25% of the price.

One of the major advantages is that buyers only have to apply for a mortgage which represents 75% of the full value of the property – giving them access to some of the best interest rates around. They will receive a 10-year interest free loan from Redrow for the remainder and they only need a 5% deposit.

Patsy Aicken, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) said: “Our ‘easi:buy’ scheme gives customers investing in a Debut home the option of deferred payment, which is usually around 25% of the purchase price.

“It makes it easier for first time buyers to make that all-important first step onto the property ladder, particularly those on typical salaries who would otherwise be pried out of the market.”

To find out how you can get on the property ladder at Debut @ Selby visit the sales office in Holme Lane, Thursday to Monday 10am to 5.30pm, or log on to redrow.co.uk.
