The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) will once again host an amateur photography contest sponsored by WWJ NewsRadio 9950, beginning Tues., Jan. 19, at Cobo Center. Open to all ages, the contest offers early admission to the NAIAS show floor on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. (purchase of admission ticket is required) and attendees can bring their cameras and take pictures of the hundreds of vehicles on the show floor. Winners will be selected in five categories, with each winning entry receiving a cash prize of $200.

"We've always said that the cars are the stars of the show, and this gives the public an opportunity to really show us what they see as the best and the brightest through the eyes of their lens," said Doug Fox, chairman, 2010 NAIAS. "This year, the NAIAS will be home to hundreds of vehicles ranging from economical hybrids, to top-of-the-line luxury models. This contest enables the guests of the show to participate in a unique way, and encourages amateur artists to look at the show from a different perspective."

With the addition of the all-new Electric Avenue presented by The Dow Chemical Company, and the return of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) EcoXperience, a new category has been added this year for electric vehicles. Winners will be selected in the following categories:

Black & White photos
Convertibles, Coupes & Concepts
Coolest Close-Up
Electric Vehicles
Luxury
