Shared-ownership schemes cut the cost of luxury cars

Instead of splashing out £140,000 for a Lamborghini, cautious motor lovers are spending £3,500 on an annual car-share membership.
My Super Car Club allows everyone the chance to live like a footballer and take a spin in a Bentley Continental GT for up to ten days a year.
After the year is up, all supercars will be sold and the proceeds shared amongst all members (estimated at 60 per cent of initial share price per member).
“2009 has been a tough year for everyone but has seen the arrival of innovative ways to live the dream for less,” says Mansoor Quazi, director and founder of My Super Car Club (mysupercarclub.co.uk).
“Luxury car lovers can enjoy weekends away or a trip to the races in a convertible without the hassles of maintenance, storage and full ownership costs.
“Then at the end of the year, each member can look forward to receiving a portion of the sale of the car.”
Members can choose to pay between £3,000 - £4,000 for a share in two models, or £3,500 for a share in four. Models include the Ferrari F430 F1, Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin DBS and a Bentley Continental GT.
“A Lamborghini is very rarely worth it for the amount of time you spend driving it. It makes more financial sense to spend a couple of thousand on a membership scheme where you can take your pick of models and drive in style for the days you want it,” says Mansoor.
Unlike many other car-share clubs, My Super Car Club buys all vehicles outright without finance or loans. Therefore all members can be sure that the cars and the club is here to stay.
