One of the worst winters in living memory has led to a dramatic rise in interest in all-wheel drive vehicles, judging by the number of visitors to Subaru’s official website – subaru.co.uk.

In the 24-day period between December 18 and January 10, when Britain was battered by record levels of snowfall and freezing temperatures, the number of daily visitors to the site increased by 45 per cent compared to average visitor numbers in 2009.  On one particularly busy day, January 10, visitor numbers shot up by a remarkable 155 per cent.

Subaru UK Marketing Director, Kenyon Neads, said: “This surge in interest is testament to Subaru’s reputation for surefootedness in all conditions.  People understand that in slippery and icy situations there is simply no substitute for our Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, and that’s why our website has been receiving so many hits.”

During the recent Arctic blast, several Subaru dealers even took demonstrators to the homes of potential buyers who were snowed in, so that they could experience the go-anywhere abilities of the cars for themselves in the worst of conditions.

You can join the throngs of visitors to the official Subaru site at subaru.co.uk.
