The Menzies Welcombe Hotel Spa & Golf Club is to host a special gourmet dinner and fine wines evening on Friday 12 March starting at 7:30pm. The wines are being supplied by the award-winning Chateau du Seuil from Bordeaux in France.

As well as sampling the extensive range of wines, the owners of the Chateau - Sean and Nicola Allison will introduce each wine and provide an insight into wine appreciation.

Château du Seuil is an elegant country house estate located in the heart of the Graves vineyards, as well as the Cérons appellation. The estate encompasses 25 hectares of vines of which approximately 65% are planted in red varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% in the white varieties of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

In 1930, the wine of Château du Seuil was considered one the finest wines of Cérons and won numerous distinctions: a silver medal at the 1928 Paris Agricultural Show, a silver medal in Liège in 1930 and a silver medal in Antwerp in 1930. Recently many international medals including gold, silver and bronze have been awarded to the property's wines and one which is greatly esteemed, the Coup de Coeur from the Guide Hachette 1997 for their Château dry white wine 1995. In 2009 the Chateau won the coveted Trophee des Crus de Graves for its 2007 graves Blanc.

Greg Fehler, General Manager of The Menzies Welcombe Hotel, stated “We’re delighted to be hosting our special gourmet and fine wines evening in conjunction with the award winning Chateau du Seuil. The event will be a great experience for wine lovers and presents guests with the opportunity of trying an extensive range of exclusive wines”.
