Think you can’t afford to fly the nest? Then think again because stylish apartment living at Cheswick, Filton, could be within your means.

Research by the housing charity Shelter* suggests that almost one in four 18 to 34-year-olds are still living with their parents; often because they believe they can’t afford a place of their own.

But buying a home at The Bowery in Cheswick, near Bristol, could be more affordable than you think.

Philippa Groves, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “Young adults looking to fly the nest don’t really want to be wasting their money on rent. What they really want is a home of their own and, with apartments from as little as £124,995, The Bowery at Cheswick offers a viable alternative to renting.”

If the price wasn’t attractive enough, Redrow is even offering to pay 5% towards customers’ deposits on the last five remaining one-bedroom apartments in this current phase at The Bowery.

“At Redrow we understand that our customers can find it difficult to raise a large cash deposit, that’s why we’re offering to help buyers step on to the property ladder,” Philippa explained.

“It’s feasible that the monthly mortgage repayments on an apartment at The Bowery may actually work out cheaper than the rental value of a similar property. And if predictions from the Centre for Economics and Business Research** that house prices will increase by 6.5% this year prove correct, home owners could find themselves reaping the benefit of their investment.”

Cheswick is a complete, self-contained village, designed for 21st century living.

The ‘Bray’ style one-bedroom apartments feature open plan kitchen/diners and enjoy spacious bathrooms.

There’s also a two-bedroom ‘Guthrie’ style coach house apartment, with its own independent access, for £159,995.

“Designed for modern living, these properties make ideal first homes for those starting out in life, but are equally well suited to downsizers and those who are starting over,” Philippa commented.

Off Coldharbour Lane, in leafy Filton, Cheswick is within easy reach of Bristol city centre. The Bowery is one of several individual hamlets that make up the new urban village. There are also a couple of three and four-bedroom homes remaining at ‘Tallsticks’, including a detached Blaise with carpets and landscaped gardens included, at £214,950.
