Family secures spacious new home with Easymover scheme

Having kept a close eye on the property market for months, Mark and Helen Stevens have made their move to a brand new home in Bury St Edmunds – with the help of Taylor Wimpey’s Easymover scheme.
The couple and their daughters, Mia (10) and Hollie (6), lived just around the corner from the housebuilder’s Kingsbury Grange development on Moreton Hall, and first visited the George Wimpey branded site in summer 2008.
“We liked the idea of having more space, especially as the girls get older,” explains Mark (43) a research scientist specialising in plant pathology for the UK sugar beet industry, “but with a busy work and family life, Helen and I didn’t immediately get around to looking into it further, and instead we just kept an eye on property prices to see where the market was heading.”
When a showhome opened at Kingsbury Grange in January 2009, the Stevens family went to have a look, and were immediately impressed by what they saw.
“Although we could only view a three-bedroom showhome at that time, it was beautiful and gave us a pointer to the new lifestyle we were after,” adds Mark, “and because they had the five-bedroom ‘Ashbury’ available to reserve, we took the plunge that afternoon!”
Having once considered extending their four-bedroom former home, the Stevens are pleased they instead opted for the more flexible, modern layout a brand new property can provide.
For example, when he works at home, rather than using the dining table, Mark has a dedicated study, which Mia and Hollie also use for their homework. Plus, the girls are delighted with their bigger bedrooms and have already claimed the spare room at the top of the house as a play and TV room for themselves and their friends!
By choosing to reserve their home off-plan, before it was built, Helen (44), an exams administrator for West Suffolk College, and Mark were also able to secure their favourite ‘Ashbury’ plot with a large garden, which Mark is looking forward to landscaping and growing a vegetable patch.
The couple used Taylor Wimpey’s Easymover scheme, through which the housebuilder looked after the sale of their old home, putting it on the market with two estate agents and paying their fees.
“The process was very quick,” adds Mark. “The house was on the market within 48 hours and we received 26 viewings in the space of only ten weeks.
“We also took advantage of Taylor Wimpey’s House 2 Home removals service, which was a lifesaver for us and something I would highly recommend to other families. Moving is stressful at the best of times, but we had all the support we needed. If Easymover worked for the Stevens family, it can work for anyone!”
The magnificent ‘Ashbury’ home proved so popular with movers to the Kingsbury Grange development, Taylor Wimpey has made the design available from only £379,995 at St Edmunds Gate, its new development phase off Primack Road in Bury St Edmunds, and has even opened an ‘Ashbury’ showhome to visitors.
An ideal choice for families seeking a new place with plenty of space and superb home comforts, the ‘Ashbury’ features a large kitchen/breakfast room and a separate dining room – both with French doors to the rear garden – a handy utility room, a light and airy study with attractive bay window to the front, a front reception room also with bay window, and a guest cloakroom.
Selected plots also have the option for a beautiful conservatory to the kitchen/breakfast room, further extending the scope of this luxury home.
Upstairs, the landing leads to three double bedrooms – one with en-suite bathroom benefiting from a separate bath and double shower cubicle – and a main bathroom also with separate bath and double shower.
Double bedrooms four and five can be found on the top floor alongside a further bathroom, while outside there is a detached double garage and two additional parking spaces.
New homes currently available at St Edmunds Gate include three-bedroom houses from just £184,995, and four-bedroom designs starting at only £274,995. A choice of two-bedroom coach house-style apartments is coming soon.
Each new property will feature a luxury fitted kitchen by Symphony, including an integrated stainless steel oven, hob and hood, plus stylish chrome door furniture.
By choosing their new home off-plan, customers can also add detail and value to their new home by selecting finishing touches from Taylor Wimpey’s extensive range of styling options, which includes flooring and carpets, upgraded kitchen units, granite worktops, integrated appliances, wall tiling and showers.
St Edmunds Gate enjoys the best of both worlds – within easy reach of the stunning Suffolk countryside, offering miles of cycle ways and footpaths to explore, and Bury St Edmunds town centre, with its traditional market and peaceful cathedral gardens – and the new Arc retail and leisure quarter featuring a flagship Debenhams department store and 35 big-name shops and restaurants.
Closer still, a small supermarket, convenience store, post office, pub and restaurant are within half a mile of the new homes.
St Edmunds Gate showhome and sales centre are located off Primack Road, Bury St Edmunds, and are open daily, 1pm to 5pm Monday and 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday. Alternatively, information is available by visiting taylorwimpey.co.uk.
