Masterfit offers simple solution to summer car maintenance

Every time you use your car it consumes important lubricants as well as fuel, and causes wear and tear to certain parts. Extended service intervals on modern cars have meant that routine maintenance has become an expected part of the vehicle owner’s responsibility.
Recognising that many drivers find such tasks a challenge, Vauxhall MasterFit has come up with a 10 minute procedure to solve the problem. For just £8, service technicians will carry out checks on the coolant level, including antifreeze protection, brake fluid, screenwash and engine oil, plus lights, tyres and wiper blades.
Any of the fluids checked that are found to be low will automatically be topped-up, while tyre pressures will be correctly set. If the wiper blades, lights or tyres themselves need further attention or replacement, drivers will be provided with a cost estimate free of charge.
To ensure that their charges for replacement parts and servicing are as competitive as possible, all Vauxhall MasterFit Centres will be checking their prices on a monthly basis against local fast-fit garages and independent repairers throughout the summer.
Only genuine Vauxhall approved parts and the correct grade of oil are used in any remedial work required, which is carried out by Vauxhall-trained technicians using the latest tools and diagnostic equipment.
"Fitting non-genuine brake pads, for example, may not provide the same stopping power or longevity as genuine Vauxhall parts," stresses Vauxhall MasterFit brand manager Neil Hunt, "and may generate brake squeal if made of inferior materials.
"Your car is probably the second biggest single purchase you make, so trying to save a few pounds on a lesser grade oil or cheaper brake pads could end up as an expensive mistake."
Quoting the car industry’s leading publication Glass’s Guide, he points out that a three year old Astra with a full Vauxhall service history could be worth up to £400 more than one without.
