‘Music for Mums’ in Covent Garden
Saturday 13th March will see some of the UK’s hottest pop stars taking part in a one-off event called ‘Music for Mums, in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care’ – a free gig to celebrate Mother’s Day in Covent Garden’s Market Building.
The free charity gig will see chart music songstress Gabriella Cilmi, ‘Pop Star to Opera Star’ winner Darius Danesh, and fast-rising operatic talent Camilla Kerslake perform their hit songs in the Covent Garden Market Building between 12pm - 5pm and begin the Mothers’ Day celebration a day early – all in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care. There will be two more very special artists to be announced on the day.
As an area synonymous with street performance and musical heritage, ‘Music for Mums, in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care’ follows the success of Super Busking, which saw talent such as the Stereophonics and Jamie Cullum perform live secret gigs in the Market Building last December.
The timings for each individual artist are yet to be revealed, but music fans who would like to be the first to know should follow @CoventGardenLDN on Twitter and facebook.com/CoventGardenLDN for more info.
As well as being a fun day out to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, the event is in support of a very important cause. Marie Curie Nurses provide free care to terminally ill patients in their own homes. Marie Curie Cancer Care is calling on people all over the UK to make a donation and wear a daffodil pin - the charity’s emblem - throughout March as part of their Great Daffodil Appeal. All money raised from the Great Daffodil Appeal will allow more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to terminally ill patients in their own homes, or one of the charity’s hospices.
