A third of British grannies are secret biker queens

Forget a bunch of flowers or a flimsy card for Mums this Mother's Day. Nearly a quarter of them want to spend the day on the back of a Harley Davidson (24 per cent).

New research from leading price comparison site Tiger.co.uk has revealed the British family's newfound love affair with motorbikes, as just over one-in-ten mums said that they would prefer excitement on a motorbike to a bunch of flowers this Mother's Day (12 per cent).

However, Grannies are the biker queens with one third admitting to secretly wanting to hop on the back of a Harley Davidson (33 per cent).  Almost twice as many Mums said they would like to travel on the back of a Harley Davidson compared to their sons (24 per cent v 13 per cent); and overall, 17 per cent of Britons said that they would love to own one.

One in five granddads thought riding on a motorbike was the best way to enjoy the countryside (19 per cent) and 22 per cent want to own one.  However, Granddads clearly have a specific taste when it comes to motorbikes, as only three per cent said they would be happy with a Harley Davidson.

Graeme Kalbraier, Managing Director of Tiger.co.uk, commented: "It's good to see our Mums are expressing their sense of adventure this year! If you are planning on buying your Mum a motorbike, or simply giving her some money towards one, make sure you also remember to shop around for the best insurance policy for her. Tiger.co.uk has got one of the largest panels of motorbike insurance providers in the market so people can be sure of getting the best deal suited to them."
