Reinvent your summer holiday with rudechalets

Morzine, France

Morzine is an archetypal ski resort, and as such is often overlooked as a summer holiday destination.

However as the snow melts, it unearths a lush and verdant alpine backdrop dotted with tranquil lakes, playful rivers and striking cliffs which provide a natural playground for innumerable outdoor summer activities for every age and ability.

Those who prefer a relaxing holiday can soak up the alpine sunshine, swim in the lakes, play golf, summer sledge, walk and bike along leisurely child friendly trails. Whilst the more adventurous holiday makers can try white water rafting, canyoning, parapenting, quad biking, water skiing, hydro speeding, rambling and downhill mountain biking.

With so many exhilarating and relaxing alpine activities on offer there is certainly no time to get bored, and this is why Morzine is the perfect summer holiday destination for families.

Morzine is a charming Savoyard town with bustling cafés, lively bars, good quality restaurants, and local boutique-style shops. Located just over an hour from Geneva it is ideally situated for day trips to Lake Geneva, Evian, Annecy and Chamonix. Since the town has approximately 3000 permanent residents it has been designed to have an all year round appeal. After a brief break in May, the local amenities and the lifts re-open in June to provide access to the Portes du Soleil’s 650km of biking and hiking trails.

To facilitate access to the mountains you can purchase a Multi Pass, which is available between June 12th and September 12th 2010. It only costs a euro a day, and allows access to 25 chairlifts and cable cars as well as a wide range of activities for low or no cost. Some of its perks include unlimited access to five swimming pools, two swimming lakes, 9 tennis centres, 2 ice rinks, 3 tourist trains, inter-resort bus services, and entrance to five heritage sites.

The range and quality of accommodation on offer in the mountains is often far superior and much better value than the apartments and villas available in the more traditional beach-based summer holiday locations.

From just £89 per person per week rudechalets offer beautiful and well-equipped chalet-style self catered accommodation in the heart of the lively alpine town of Morzine. All bedrooms are ensuite, each with XBOX 360s / LCD screens. There is a table football, media centre, fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer), cozy lounge with wide-screen satellite TV as well as a huge terrace balcony with outdoor furniture, Bar-B-Q and stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

As part of their service rudechalets can help organise summer activities, mountain guides and return airport transfers from Geneva. For children they provide (for no extra cost) cots, high chairs and child / baby seats for the mini buses.

Getting there: Geneva airport is just 90 minutes transfer by car (rudechalets can organise return airport transfers) and all three resorts are a 9 hour drive from Calais.
