With spring in the air, drivers concerned about the effectiveness of their car’s air conditioning system can take advantage of a special de-bugging service from participating Vauxhall MasterFit Centres throughout the summer at the highly competitive price of £29.99.

Even though these systems are designed to be used all year round, it is quite common for motorists to turn off their air conditioning through the winter months. This can often lead to a build-up of condensation in the pipework. Factor in the effects of heat generated by the engine, and you have an ideal environment for bacteria and mould spores to develop.

If this happens to your car, you will soon notice unpleasant odours in the passenger compartment, and you may find you and your passengers are affected by sore throats and allergic reactions.

The de-bugging treatment using manufacturer-recommended biocides will sort the problem. It takes around 30 minutes and can be done while you wait. Vauxhall does, however, recommend that all air conditioning or climate control systems are serviced on an annual basis to maintain complete effectiveness.

A full air-con service is being offered by participating Vauxhall MasterFit Centres for just £89.99. The system will be tested for leaks, particularly important since the oil lubricating the air conditioning system is suspended within the refrigerant gas. The existing gas will be removed and filtered before returning it to the system and topped up where necessary. Fresh oil will also be added.

Customers can take advantage of both service offers until September 2007.
