Merriam-Webster’s dictionaries available for BlackBerry

Paragon Software Group has completed the product line that now allows users of America's most popular mobile platform, BlackBerry, to access America's most trusted bilingual and explanatory dictionaries by Merriam-Webster directly on their mobile devices.

The product line, now available for all mobile platforms, includes Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition; Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged; Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionar; Merriam-Webster’s Pocket; The Merriam-Webster Dictionary; Merriam-Webster's English-French Dictionary and Merriam-Webster's English-Spanish Dictionary.

The original dictionary titles from America’s foremost publisher were adapted for the mobile screen and supplemented with the new functionality providing fastest definition look-up. Paragon’s advanced SlovoEd engine compresses even the weightiest content to minimal memory space. The traditional printed version of Merriam-Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged, for example, weighs in at 12.5 pounds (5,67 kg), has 2,662 pages and measures 4 inches (10.16 cm) thick, but occupies just ~25 Mb on your tiny mobile device.

America’s most comprehensive and authoritative dictionary, Merriam-Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged provides the most extensive coverage of American English. Its database contains more than 257,244 entries and 700,000 definitions with more than 143,000 etymologies detailing word origins, 100,000 quotations and 1,100 synonymous paragraphs. Once installed, the dictionary can be accessed anywhere, anytime, without Internet connection or additional charges.

The largest and most popular college dictionary, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition includes over 90,000 entries and 225,000 definitions containing more than 10,000 new words and meanings.

Merriam-Webster's French-English Dictionary provides the most extensive coverage of Canadian French with more than 80,000 entry words and phrases and 100,000 translations, as well as abundant examples of words used in context. Merriam-Webster's Spanish-English Dictionary covers Latin American and European Spanish, and contains more than 80,000 entries and 100,000 translations.
