VX Racing set to fight back at Snetterton Only four meetings are left of the 2007 season of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and VX Racing has pulled out all the stops in a bid to get back on top of the Championship’s points table.

After a successful day’s testing on Thursday last week, the current Manufacturer’s Championship leader is fully prepared for the BTCC’s next rounds at Snetterton on 28 and 29 July 2007, after losing out on crucial points at a wet Donington Park a week ago.

With one podium position for VX Racing’s Fabrizio Giovanardi and a brilliant drive from Tom Chilton in the third race at Donington Park, where he overtook four cars in the last four laps, the team is confident they are arriving at Snetterton with the right package to attack.

Giovanardi, who is currently second in the Driver’s Championship behind SEAT’s Jason Plato, and team-mate Chilton are eager to improve on last year’s performance at the Norfolk circuit, where they scored two podium positions.

Qualifying will start at 15:10 on Saturday 28 July, with the first of three races at 10:30 on Sunday 29 July.

Fabrizio Giovanardi #5
“I’m confident for Snetterton and we can’t afford to lose more points, but then again anything can happen as we saw at Donington Park. Jason Plato had a string of good luck but I hope this will turn around and we will have the good luck now!

“Last year was a difficult weekend for us at Snetterton and I only had one finish, which was a third place, but I will be really focused to achieve the best!”

Tom Chilton #7
“I hope the curse has been lifted and hopefully we will be back on track for the rest of the season. I’ve learned a lot at Donington Park in terms of the car’s new set-up.

“Snetterton is my favourite circuit as it’s a great combination of twisty corners and fast straights. It’s a circuit where you can really tell the bad drivers from the good. I get a real buzz when I drive there and I believe I still hold the un-official lap record from a couple of years ago.”

Stuart Harris, VXR Brand Manager
“Donington Park was a disappointment for the team as we arrived on the Saturday leading both Driver and Team Championship and we didn’t do as well as we expected over the weekend.

“However, we’re arriving fully prepared and determined at Snetterton with a firm objective of collecting as many points as possible.”
