Consumer Code will protect buyers, says Miller Homes

Miller Homes is welcoming the new Consumer Code for Home Builders, labelling it the ‘rubberstamp’ for best practice in customer service within the housebuilding industry.
The Consumer Code, which has been developed by the National House Building Council (NHBC) in conjunction with the House Building Federation, comes into effect from 1st April and will be the agreed code of conduct for all housebuilders and developers selling new homes. It is being introduced to give further reassurance for buyers of new homes so that they receive a transparent, quality service throughout their purchasing experience.
The new legislation will ensure that customers know what levels of service they can expect from house builders and that they receive reliable and factual information on any potential purchases.
Sue Warwick, national sales and marketing director for Miller Homes, explains why the housebuilder is pleased to see the new benchmarking in place: “Buying a new home is likely to be one of the biggest purchase decisions that a person will make in their lifetime, so it seems right that there is legislation in place to assist and protect buyers from those who may not currently be providing the level of service that we aim to deliver at Miller Homes.”
Miller Homes was the first housebuilder to publish its customer satisfaction survey results and continues to do so via its website. In 2008, Miller Homes launched its Customer Charter, which outlined its promises to customers, including providing ‘clear and fair’ marketing and advertising literature to ensure that customers are fully informed at every stage of their house buying journey.
Sue Warwick continues: “I am looking forward to seeing the new Code in place because it echoes the sentiments of the Miller Homes Customer Charter and our general approach to customer service, marketing methods and after sales care. We have been delivering quality and service to our customers for over 75 years and our customer satisfaction results speak for themselves, 98% of our customers would recommend their friends to purchase a Miller Home.”
