For the second year running Crest Nicholson will be joining more than 1 billion people worldwide in supporting WWF’s global Earth Hour initiative.

At 8.30pm on Saturday 27th March, the developer will be simultaneously switching off the lights across more than 50 office and showhome sites around the UK, including its Viridian Square development in Aylesbury, in support of action to tackle climate change.

The international blackout is part of a voluntary, worldwide sustainability movement in which individuals, businesses, communities and governments unite to raise awareness of the problems posed by climate change. By becoming part of a worldwide resolution to address global warming, Crest Nicholson hopes to inspire others to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, demonstrating the simple measures that can be taken towards reducing our impact on the environment.

As Chris Warner Sales and Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson South, explains:

“Earth Hour is all about taking accountability for our own carbon footprints. Even the smallest behavioural changes can make a huge amount of difference and that’s something that we strive to facilitate across all of our developments.”

Viridian Square is an exciting development comprising a contemporary collection of apartments arranged in six separate buildings around a beautifully landscaped communal garden. The final phase of the development comprises 36 one and two bedroom apartments, and is now available following the sell out success of all the other homes at the popular scheme last year.

Chris adds: “Whilst we always turn off the lights in our showhomes and marketing suites overnight, by co-ordinating with thousands of other people and switching off the lights simultaneously we are not only helping to make a strong visual statement, but it is also a direct reflection of our commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions arising from our own office and site activity by 25% by 2020. Turning out the lights is one of the most immediate and practical steps that we can all take towards reducing our impact on the environment, and it’s been exciting for us to be able to make such a strong local impact with an international campaign.”

Crest Nicholson has emerged as one of the UK’s leading housebuilders in terms of responding to the challenges represented by climate change. In November last year, the company was named ‘Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year’ in the Housebuilding Innovation Awards, having already won the same category in the Sustainability Awards in 2008, and is committed to delivering on the government's targets to achieve more efficient, more sustainable housing.

The gated development combines traditionally styled exteriors with smart contemporary interiors. Fresh and modern, the apartments feature open plan living/dining areas and kitchens that are perfectly equipped for convenience and functionality. These come complete with stylish units, co-ordinated laminate worktops and brushed steel Bosch appliances. Meanwhile, the bathrooms contain white sanitaryware by Roca and chrome Hansgrohe mixer taps and fittings, with the two-bedroom apartments also boasting en suite facilities to the master bedroom.

As well as London, Aylesbury is ideally situated for access to a number of other major cities, including Watford, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Birmingham, and is also within easy reach of Heathrow Airport. Road links with the A41 offer immediate access to the M40 North at Junction 9 or, via the A418, access to Thame, the A40 ring road to Oxford or the M40 South Junction 7 for London and the M25.

Guide price for homes in the final phase of Viridian Square will start from just £139,950 for a one bedroom apartment, and £162,450 for a two bedroom apartment. For more information about Viridian Square, visit the Marketing Suite and Show Apartment, open daily from 10am – 5pm.
