GM Special Vehicles fit The Bill – and dial up 999!

The Vauxhall Vectra traffic patrol car was presented to the Chiltern Transport Consortium – which provides vehicles for police constabularies in five English counties - at a special handover ceremony at GM UK Special Vehicles base in Millbrook, Bedfordshire.
Opened in June 2007, GM UK Special Vehicles specializes in the conversion of vehicles from three GM brands - Vauxhall, Saab and Chevrolet - for fleet customers in the emergency services all over the UK. All vehicles are adapted to the exacting requirements of the clients, often with an arresting specification. Because the conversions are treated as original equipment by GM UK, the vehicles are all covered under GM’s extensive standard warranty of three years, 60,000 miles.
Chiltern Transport Consortium, the largest purchaser of GM Special Vehicles in the UK, oversees the operation of all of the transport services for police forces in five English counties: Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire.
“We are very pleased with our relationship with GM UK Special Vehicles,” said Ian Godolphin, the Head of Transport for Chiltern Transport Consortium. “As well as delivering specialised high-speed pursuit vehicles such as this Vectra, they also provide us with the Vauxhall Astra 1.3 CDTi - the cornerstone vehicle of our police forces. We rely on the Astra because of its high standard of reliability and the comprehensive support package offered by GM UK which means that we have peace of mind regarding the ongoing maintenance of our fleet of vehicles.”
