Footballers to hit the fairways at La Manga Club

25th March 2010 Print

A wealth of footballing talent will grace La Manga Club’s fairways as the Footballers’ Golf Classic returns for its 14th outing from June 5-10.

The popular tournament gives golfers the chance to tee it up alongside their football heroes in a competitive but friendly environment.

Current Morecambe midfielder Fraser McLachlan wrestled the title away from a host of big names in last year’s competition but the three-handicapper will face fierce competition to hold on to his crown.

Matt Le Tissier, Des Walker, Alan McInally, Gary Owen, Gordon Strachan, Chris Marsden and Paul Jewell were among the famous faces to miss out who are sure to be looking to make amends this time around.

The event features four days of competitive golf, the one-day Alan Ball Trophy and the three-day main event, sponsored by London’s leading minicab company Addison Lee, with competitors playing alongside a different footballer each day.

Places in the event cost £1,375 per person and include five nights in the five-star Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe, breakfast, welcome dinner, BBQ dinner, gala dinner and prize giving with entertainment and an event gift pack.

The luxurious setting of La Manga Club is the ideal venue for the competition with its three championship golf courses perfectly complemented by the rest of the resort’s wide-ranging facilities including a 28-court tennis centre and 2,000sqm spa complex.
