Outstanding home and school combination in Plympton

31st March 2010 Print

Living within the catchment area of an outstanding school is high on the list for most parents searching for a new home – and Market Quarter in Plympton easily ticks that box.

The forthcoming Barratt development is located near to one of the region’s finest secondary schools – Hele’s School. Described by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’, the school is hugely popular – and living within the catchment area is a major consideration within the application process.

“Our customer research found around 32 per cent of prospective homebuyers say that proximity to a good school is an important factor when buying a new property,” said sales manager, Mary Daymond.

“And they couldn’t find better than this. Hele’s School has specialist language status and is also a mathematics and computer college – so parents will get the perfect home and the perfect school when moving to Market Quarter.”

Schools are a major consideration for Barratt when buying land to build developments.

And parents can find out about local schools on Barratt’s website. Visitors to barratthomes.co.uk can simply enter a location, postcode or the name of the development in which they are interested and then have the option of asking for more information on nearby schools.

Powered by The Good Schools Guide search engine, the search generates a list of the nearest schools. Parents can filter the search by age-range (nursery, primary and secondary) or type (mainstream and special needs).

By clicking on a school’s name, parents can instantly access details such as the number of pupils and the percentages passing exams in English, Maths and Science as well as Key Stage 2 statistics.

The development at Market Quarter will offer one, two, three and four bedroom homes and is located just five miles from Plymouth – making it ideal for commuting.

Built on the site of a former cattle market, Barratt is keeping the development true to its origins by incorporating the cattle pens and old stone walls in to the building plans.

“This area really does have everything, from transport links with cities like Plymouth and Exeter to the beaches of Devon and Cornwall – and of course the beauty of Dartmoor National Park.

“Often, wanting the very best for their children dictates where families live – not the other way around. At Market Quarter, parents will find a fantastic local school and all the space their family needs to spread out and grow into.”
