Destinology launches South Africa microsite

31st March 2010 Print

Luxury operator Destinology has launched a brand new website, sensesouthafrica.co.uk, to raise awareness of the wide range of holidays available to South Africa, in the year when UK holidaymakers attention will be drawn to the country by the FIFA World Cup.

While football will raise the profile of key cities and big match venues amongst potential UK holidaymakers, Destinology aims to inspire with a wide range of holiday ideas away from the football, from safaris to wine tours, and spa breaks to historical itineraries, through appealing to our range of senses.

Dedicated to promoting South Africa as the destination to invigorate and enliven the senses, the new website takes ‘touch’, ‘taste’, ’sights’, ‘scents’, and ‘sounds’ to provide inspiration for holiday ideas. Rather than take only literal interpretations of the senses, ‘touch’ for example, includes suggestions for hands-on safaris, as well as tours taking in areas made famous by Mandela, the man whose actions touched people across the world.

Jointly funded by South African Tourism, Destinology created the site following winning an award for proposing an original marketing idea. Competing against other tour operators and hotel groups to win a £25,000 marketing prize, Destinology came up with the concept of appealing to the senses to show the breadth of holiday styles available in South Africa.

Dominic Speakman, CEO Destinology, comments, “While England winning the World Cup would be an assault of the senses, we want to show potential holidaymakers that there’s a more guaranteed way to stimulate senses by visiting South Africa this year! Whether you like food, wine, safaris or spa, a relaxing holiday or an energetic tour, our new site gives inspiration to all to consider a visit to South Africa”.

Regular special offers are also promoted through the site, as well as holidays to suit all budgets. For the budget conscious, there’s a 14 night ‘Economical South Africa Tour’, taking in Cape Town, Durban, Swaziland, Kruger National Park and much more from just £1273 per person, based on two sharing, excluding flights.

For those looking for the ultimate break, then a current special deal offers an eight night twin centre holiday, with four nights at the One & Only Cape Town and four nights at the luxurious Singita Sabi Sands for £4,999 per person, including game drives, international and domestic flights, b&b accommodation in Cape Town and full board on safari. This offer must be booked by 31 March, for travel by end May 2010.
