Local pupil names new development in Probus

Pupils at Probus Community Primary School got their thinking caps on recently when they were challenged by house builder Taylor Wimpey to come up with a name for its new development in Probus, being built just round the corner from the school.
After receiving a number of entries, Taylor Wimpey chose Fairfields, taking inspiration from year 3 pupil Cerys’ suggestion of Fair Field Estate.
Janine Davey, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, commented: “We were impressed with the standard of suggestions received and had a tough time picking just one winner. In the end we could only choose one deserving name and Cerys’ suggestion won because it perfectly incorporated the far reaching views over the stunning Cornish fields that many of our new homes in Probus will enjoy.
“Located off St Austell Road, the new development will be an addition to Probus that we hope residents will enjoy. We also hope that whenever Cerys or any of the children from Probus Community Primary School walk past Fairfields they’ll be proud to have been part of its naming.”
Cerys received a £50 WH Smith voucher from Taylor Wimpey while two runners-up, Merryn and Finn, were awarded £25 and £10 worth of WH Smith vouchers respectively.
Mr Adams, head teacher at Probus Community Primary School, said: “We were delighted to be asked to come up with possible names for Taylor Wimpey’s new development and all the children had fun getting involved. Fairfields is an excellent choice, especially as it takes inspiration from a name suggested by one of our pupils. Everyone really enjoyed being involved with this project and we look forward to working with Taylor Wimpey in the future, where we’ll hopefully be able to pay a visit to the development.”
When complete, Fairfields will comprise a stylish selection of two, three and four bedroom homes featuring natural Cornish stone and slate and access to playing fields and open space for residents to enjoy. Anyone interested in this development is urged to register their interest now to be one of the first to receive a brochure and prices.
