A hand crafted home in Camberwell

A bespoke, hand crafted property has been released for sale at just £295,000, through leading online estate agent Wooster & Stock. Jonny Allams, a freelance carpenter, transformed his run-of-the-mill one bedroom apartment in Camberwell, South East London, into a unique piece of wooden artwork.

Jonny’s property is laden with beautiful, natural materials, including American black walnut and Australian tallow.

Jonny, 38, who is originally from North London and planning to upsize with his girlfriend, comments: “I had always wanted to renovate my apartment so one day I decided to do it! I have created a bespoke home which I consider to be timeless yet functional, whilst complementing the original features of the apartment.

“I love taking on projects. I work with architects on the design of school buildings and work within local schools to inspire creativity, so my own venture was an ideal way to practice what I preach. Using a range of new and reclaimed timbers I made everything by hand, from my wardrobes to my bed. In the garden, I designed and built an extensive decking area which is a fantastic entertaining space in the warmer months.”

Becky Munday, Head of Sales at Wooster & Stock comments: “The apartment is very stylish and the earthy theme complements its period features. The diverse use of rich wood is highly unusual and really sets this property apart. This part of Camberwell is very popular and the apartment benefits from being located in a sought after street in a conservation area which is famous for its beautiful Georgian buildings. We are anticipating that it will be extremely popular with young professionals who are looking for an exceptional place to live.”

This ground floor apartment benefits from high ceilings and large, arched sash windows. In the living room the fireplace has been restored creating a wonderful focal point and its door once belonged to a Victorian primary school, which Jonny rescued and brought back to its former glory.

Jonny’s apartment is located in Camberwell and there is a wealth of restaurants, cafés, bars and local shops close by. Denmark Hill railway station is a short walk away and has regular services to Victoria and London Bridge, which take between 10 to 15 minutes approximately*.  The property is currently on the market through Wooster & Stock for £295,000.
