Chevrolet sales rocket in September
Chevrolet was launched on 1 February 2005, replacing the Daewoo brand across Europe. Its first sales success was recorded in March 2005 but the brand has established itself so strongly through mid-year that Chevrolet has achieved a remarkable 82% improvement over those March sales.The UK company overall has been steadily consolidating its business since it was established by GM in 2002, with a number of new models joining the range including the Kalos B-segment 3 and 5-door hatchback and the C-segment Lacetti family of 5-door, 4-door saloon and Station Wagon.
Share of TIV is up by 45% over September 2004 with share for the third quarter of 2005 up by 36% year on year. Share is also up by 48% Q3 over Q2 2005.
Andy Carroll, Managing Director of Chevrolet UK said: “The first six months of the year were extremely tough for Chevrolet and our retail partners as we transitioned from Daewoo to Chevrolet. Having said that, we still held share against last year. The new Chevrolet brand really started to show dividends in the third quarter culminating in a record share and volume in September.”
