British holidaymakers opt for ‘staycations’

28th April 2010 Print

The recent travel chaos caused by the volcanic ash cloud has resulted in many British holidaymakers reconsidering their holiday plans and opting for breaks closer to home, according to cottages4you.

Geoff Cowley, managing director, said:  “Since the start of the flight ban and the resulting disruption to air travel, we have seen a 25 per cent rise in bookings for the next few weeks. The ash is just the latest event to show how easily overseas travel plans can be disrupted – I’m not surprised we have also seen sales for main summer holidays up 11 per cent.”
